Cold, Ice and Snow

Well, the garden is now resting, and most of the birds have left.  There are still the American Goldfinch, the Sparrows, and Wrens.  I thought I saw and heard some Juncos.    I was able to vacation in Florida, and I was able to take some really great pictures.

This picture was at an animal refuge.  All of these birds have been injured and would not survive without being cared for.

There were a lot of different kinds of birds here.
This was a park near where my niece lives, Lakeland.

I actually took over 600 pictures.  It had a lot of birds, alligators, and of course family.

I will add some more later.  Enjoy!

Sorry it took me so long to post

The tomatoes, zucchini, okra, lettuce, and flowers in pots on the porch did really well. However, the pepper plants did not. Maybe the pot was too small for them.

I did enjoy watching the birds this year. We had more then we ever have had visit the plants. We had several feeders out; two for finches, two for hummingbirds, and one for other small birds. We actually had a pair of hummingbirds come. When the female came, she would fly right up close to me and just hover. She also had to check out a wind chime that I had hanging that was red. The male came and did not stay around if I was too close to the feeder. He basically flew in and out quickly. The humming birds also used the geraniums flowers, as well as the butterfly bush for nectar.
More pictures coming. Come back and check them out.

I am thinking that it is soon time to get ready to plant new seeds for my pots on the porch. I always like to have red and hot pink geraniums. The hummingbirds will come right up onto my porch to get the nectar from them.
Last year I had a Hummingbird Moth. It was hard to tell the difference - except in the coloring. This year I hope to be able to get a photo of one.

This photo is a different view of Smokey while he was enjoying the birds also!

It is really relaxing just taking time sitting on the porch (on my rocker), watching the butterflies and moths that are attracted to my plants in the yard, as well as on my porch. I was really surprised how many different ones came around here.
